Data Governance Under Magnuson-Stevens and Related Data Laws and Policies
Duke Center on Law & Technology
From its inception, NGA has sought ways to take on the sensitive but critical issue of how NMFS interprets data confidentiality. This project engaged both fisheries experts and experts from other sectors in discussions on data policy best practices, the limits and potential of new technologies, and examples of success in a four-part podcast series called Fishing for Data. Created by the Duke Center on Law & Technology, each episode includes a reference guide with links to other resources and a full transcript. The final episode was a recorded live discussion.
These episodes were heard across the fisheries community, by agency staff and industry participants, helping expand the familiarity and comfort with discussing data confidentiality.
